A note of welcome by the Operations Chief of Emergency Services: Joseph Pred

Welcome!

Regardless if you are a prospective volunteer, a curious participant, or a veteran volunteer of the Emergency Services Department we welcome you to our little corner of the Burning Man web domain.

We just recently brought this site online and are in the process of building it into an informative web portal for participant focused safety information. Please check back from time to time as more information and resources become posted here. Additionally this resource will serve as an important tool for informing, orienting, and training our dedicated ESD volunteers, supplementing the already existing Extranet resources.

Core values:

I am honored to lead the Emergency Services Department that provides Black Rock City with Fire, Medical, Mental Health and Communications Services. Especially since it is a core values based team for the 40 plus officers who dedicate countless hours to help lead and manage our organization and our valued professional volunteers. Our core values of integrity, commitment, communication, and support help us make the best decisions for our volunteers and participants on every level of our department. This web portal will both help us communicate and support both participants and our volunteers alike. We hope you'll find it useful.

Art has many forms:

As a canvas-maker is to a painter, the Emergency Services Department weaves a fabric of safety that supports the foundation of art and community in our fair city. As paint, brush, and canvas are bound together by this artistic creativity they become inseparable and transformed. Emergency services is its own art bound to our community and in return we are transformed by its creative magic.
